My Toughest Wedding

During discussions with prospective couples I'm often asked "What was your most challenging wedding?"

Many expect me to recall diva Bride moments, soothing stressed grooms, or working with children fuelled on red cordial and lollies (all of which I have encountered).David proposing to Bianca Dec 2013 But no, my toughest wedding ceremony was the one I conducted for the loveliest, most considerate and caring couple I know. The wedding of my youngest son David and our best daughter in-law Bianca.

The ceremony itself was fine, my Celebrant training and Army self discipline kicked in. But keeping my emotions (as a proud parent) in check was difficult. Especially when I hugged my son whilst awaiting the arrival of his bride & when I saw Bianca enter the chapel escorted by her parents,  I don't mind sharing with you that I had a tear in my eye.

Boy that was  my toughest wedding ceremony.

Having shared this experience, I understand that for couples it is a very emotional time.
This is why one of my key objectives is to remove as much stress as humanly possible from the couple, so that everything proceeds smoothly, with no unexpected hiccups on the day.

"Where do I sign Dad" Bianca asked. "Here here and here Daughter In-Law" I proudly said
